Arvostin kirjailijan rohkeutta käsitellä vaikeita aiheita, mutta toteutus tuntui usein kömpelöltä, kuin kömpelöltä työkalulta, jota käytetään hyvällä tahdolla, mutta ilman hienovaraisuutta. Narratiivi oli koskettava muistutus tarinankerronnan voimasta, todistus ihmishengen kauneudesta ja monimutkaisuudesta. On sääli, että tarinan potentiaali haitattiin huonoilla tahdistuksilla, mikä teki siitä joskus kurjistuksen, mutta lopulta kirjailijan into ja puhdas sitoutuminen ammuntiin loisti läpi, tehden siitä kiinnostavan ja palkitsevan lukukokemuksen. On jotakin kiistaton rohkea, kun palataan “Pieni talo”-sarjan joulutuissa, joissa yksinkertaisemmat epub ja sydämelliset juhlavuodot esitetään nostalgiakuvina. Tarina on hyvä esimerkki siitä, miten kirjallisuus voi auttaa meitä oppimaan menneisyydestä ja sen vaikutuksesta nykypäivään, samalla huvittamalla ja kiinnostamalla meitä. Vaikka hetkellisillä yksityiskohdilla on elämää, tarinan rakentamiseen käytetty teknologia tuntuu usein irrotetuksi ja epäonnistuu lukijan täydelliseen sitoutumiseen. Lukiessani tämän aikuisena, annoin sille 3,5 tähteä, kindlelle jos olisin keskikoulun ikäinen, se olisi ollut täysi 5. Toivon, että olisin saanut nämä kirjat, kun olin nuori musiikkiteatterin harrastaja. Admitoidakseni, olin epäluuloisesti aluksi, mutta tämä kirja voitti minut kummallisen loistuksellaan ja vinoilla romaanilla, tarinalla, ebook on yhtä paljon yllättävän kauneudesta kuin rakkauden voimasta. Lopulta se oli katkera, lataa tarina, joka pysyisi mielessäni pitkän ajan jälkeenkin. Kun suljin kirjan, hahmot pysyivät mielessäni, kirjasto tarinansa ja kamppailunsa kaikuivat mielessäni, muistuttaen, että jopa fiktiivisessä kirjallisuudessa ihmiskokemus on monimutkainen gobeliini, joka on kudottu ilon, surun ja kaiken siltä väliltä langoista. Rakastan sitä, Krokotiili hiekkasärkällä tämä kirja haastaa “täydellisen” ihmisen ajatuksen ja sen sijaan esittelee realistisemman ja monimutkaisemman rakkauden ja suhteiden kuvauksen. Mitä eniten kiinnostutti tänä kirjana oli sen ajatusherkästi käsittelemä naisvirkkienaihe, joka oli sovitettu tarinaan taidokkaasti, luoden sekä ytimekkään että vaikutusvaltaisen lukueroon. Se on romaanin, joka kiinnostaa kirjallisen kirjallisuuden ystäviä, rikas ja monikulmainen ihmisen ehdotutkimus, mutta se saattaa jättää muut hämillään, kuin matkustaja kaukana kotoa. Tarina Gloriesista, Facultyista ja Truanteista on monimutkainen, täynnä käänteitä ja yllätyksiä, jotka pitävät sinut verkossa loppuun asti.
